Newly-Elected US Senator: Bitcoin is a Good Store of Value

In an interview with Good Morning America on ABC News Friday, the newly-elected U.S. Senator from Wyoming Cynthia Lummis said she wants to bring bitcoin into the national conversation.
Although a Good Morning America co-host claimed Lummis is the first U.S. senator to own bitcoin, Castle Island Ventures General Partner Nic Carter pointed out that Kelly Loeffler, a U.S. Senator from Georgia, may also own bitcoin.
Here is Lummis’s full statement on bitcoin from the interview: “I do hope to bring bitcoin into the national conversation. I’m a former state treasurer, and I invested our state’s permanent funds. So, I was always looking for a good store of value, and bitcoin fits that bill. Our own currency inflates. Bitcoin does not. 21 million bitcoin will be mined, and that’s it. It is a finite supply, so I have confidence that this is going to be an important player in stores of value for a long time to come.”
In addition to breaking ground in terms of bitcoin advocacy in the U.S. Senate, Lummis is also the first ever female U.S. Senator from the state of Wyoming.
